In loving memory ~
With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Margarete Henry on February 28, 2025, at the age of 89. She passed peacefully, joining her husband of 60 years, Albert; her daughter, Kathy; her parents, Hermann and Margarete Rohde; and her brothers, Horst and Herman.
Margarete was born in Berwyn, Alberta, and, after marrying Albert, together they raised five children: Kathy (Wayne), Dennis (Viola), Charlene (John), Eric (Karen), and Tanya (Russell). She was a proud grandmother to 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her great joy.
In 1971, the family made their home in Crofton, BC, where Margarete and Albert built a life filled with family, friends, and simple joys. They cherished time spent camping with friends, hosting salmon barbecues, and gathering around the kitchen table. The door was always open, a pot of coffee was always on, and there was never a shortage of salmon sandwiches or homemade pie to share.
Margarete was an active member of her community, volunteering with the Crofton Community Centre Society and the Crofton Seniors Centre. She could often be found with a good book in hand.
A private gathering for family and close friends will be held to remember her.
