February 18, 1940 - August 2, 2022
In loving memory ~
Marilyn passed away comfortably at the Cowichan District Hospital. She was born in Geraldton, Ontario and spent her younger years growing up in Thunder Bay.
After graduating in 1958 from Thunder Bay Secondary Marilyn attended the University of Western ON for 3 years and graduated in 1961.
1958 was also when Marilyn met Ron. They were married April 28, 1962 at St. John the Evangilist Anglican Church in Thunder Bay.
It was 1966 when Marilyn, Ron and young son Ron Jr. moved to Vancouver Island. They lived in Duncan for two years then moved to Chemainus in 1968. They had bought a piece of property and had a house built.
Marilyn and Ron raised their two adopted sons Ron and Steve to young adulthood. Marilyn's favorite hobbies were knitting, crocheting, sewing, and making quilts. She also enjoyed her volunteer work as a member of the Auxiliary to the Chemainus Health Care Centre. The Auxiliary members ran the Thrift Store which Marilyn often called her favorite store. She was an Auxiliary Member for 35 years. Her second family, fellow Auxiliary members will miss her very much.
Marilyn was predeceased by her parents Mary and Tom Waugh of Thunder Bay, her husband's parents Linhard and Eileen Lindfors of Duncan, sister inlaw and brother inlaw Dianne and Victor Hicks of Duncan, and her husband Ron of almost 46 years. Marilyn is survived by eldest son Ron Jr. and partner Jen of Duncan, youngest son Steve of Pincher Creek, Alberta and his two children Madeleine and Alex.
Marilyn was thrilled when she became a Grandma. Also survived by her 4 nieces Lynn, Susan, April, and Judy, and their families and by her cousin Ken McCuaig, wife Mary Ann and their two daughters Erin and Heather of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Marilyn was cremated through H.W. Wallace.
An Internment of ashes grave side service was held Saturday, August 13, at the Chemainus Cemetery.
Rest in Peace Mom. Love you lots.
