Joyce Gronlund of Chemainus, beloved wife of Dave for 63 years, passed away peacefully at the Chemainus Health Care Centre on March 30, 2021 at the age of 83 years.
She was the loving mom of children: Dorothy Douglas, Cindy (Dennis) Popplestone, Jerry Gronlund. Grandma or Nana will be dearly missed by her nine grandchildren: Carl (Shannon), Shawn (Verna), Jared, Michael & Melinda (Keenan) Douglas; Tyler (Kelsey) & Tanya Popplestone; Ryan & Matthew Gronlund. GG will be missed by her five great grandchildren: Dawson (Amelia), Kloey, Marcus, Calvin and CJ Douglas; her brothers in law: Cliff (Betty) & Fred (Carolyn) and her sister in law, Karen.
She will also be lovingly remembered by close friends: Marg and Bob Merriam, Lynn Haley, Lenore and David Thomas and Janice McDonald. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Carl David 'Dave' Gronlund (2020). Joyce loved her family dearly but especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Born in Nanaimo, BC, Joyce worked at home at the farm during all of her adult life. She married Dave in Nanaimo and together they moved to Chemainus. They had a hobby farm which she loved and was greatly involved with the 4H for many years. Family was most important to Joyce as well as her close friends.
She enjoyed volunteering at Chemainus United Church and Chemainus Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Store. She also loved to farm, garden, bake, and cook. She loved family get togethers especially at Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
