February 5, 1937 - February 20, 2020
Marq was born in Woodfibre BC on February 5th, 1937 and passed away peacefully on February 20th, 2020 at the age of 83 years. He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Irene; his father Harry, his mother Irma and his brother Alf. Survived by his sons Mathew (Gloria) and Jason (Andrea); grandchildren Marissa, Katrina, Camryn and Thomas; and by his brother Harry (Robbie). He was the favourite Uncle of many nieces and nephews and was loved dearly by all his relatives.
Marq moved to Duncan in 1957 to work in the Crofton Pulp Mill. He met Irene and they were married in 1960. After transferring to Crofton Newsprint for the start of up #1 Paper Machine, he retired in 1998 after 40 years with the Mill.
Marq loved playing all sports - especially Softball as well as 5 and 10 pin bowling. When his playing days were over he enjoyed watching his grandchildren do everything from Field and Ice Hockey to Hip Hop dance performances. He was extremely proud of them all!
There was no better example of what it meant to be a true gentleman than Grampy! He will be sorely missed by everyone whose life he touched.
A private gathering for family and friends will be held at a later date.
