Nils came to Lake Cowichan with his family in 1948. He loved his new home but never forgot his deep roots in Kälen, Jämtland, Sweden where he was born on January 7, 1933.
Nils loved his family and his friends, and his generous spirit, shy smile, and willingness to help always made him a favourite with everyone who knew him.
He passed away peacefully at Cairnsmore Extended Care on August 19, 2016. He is survived by his wife Lexi Bainas and sisters Elvy Halbert and Jo-Ann Vega (Alfonso), and by his nephews Jason, Damon, Greg, Steve and Carlos and by his nieces Marje, Sheryll, Darlene and Naiomi and also by a large and loving extended family. He was predeceased by his parents, Nils and Signe Olsson and his brother Oke Olsson.
We would like to thank the doctors, nurses and care aides who looked after Nils with so much kindness and understanding.
He will be buried on Saturday, Sepember 24 at 1:30 p.m. at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, 2347 Cedar Rd, Cedar, B.C., which was a place he grew to know and to love visiting in his later years. If you remember Nils, come and honour his life with us.
