Born May 29, 1922, passed away peacefully at Cerwydden Care Centre, September 29, 2016. Olga was born on the family farm near Innisfree, Alberta and took her schooling there. In 1943 she married Leo Sobko and moved to Kaslo, BC, where they purchased a small farm north of town. There, they had 3 children. In 1960 she married Frederick Tompson and lived in Kaslo, where they owned and operated a restaurant from 1960 – 1965. During her time with Fred they did extensive world traveling. After his passing she was always up to shorter excursions. She then moved to Vernon for a time before moving to the Cowichan Valley. Olga was the second oldest child of seven. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Sadie (Melnyk) Gnyra, her first husband Leo Sobko, her second husband Fred Tompson, brothers William Gnyra, Peter (Phylis) Gnyra, sister Jeanette (Harold) Hill, brothers-in-law Peter Weremy and Howard Rancier. She is survived by sister’s Victoria Weremy, Elizabeth Rancier, brother Mike (Liz) Gnyra, all in Alberta. She is also survived by daughter Leona (Orest) Kopeck in Duncan, sons Leonard Tompson in Chilliwack and Dave (Betty) Tompson in Vernon. She also has 7 grandchildren, 9 greatgrandchildren and 2 great-granddaughters and another due in December, and numerous nieces and nephews. A special thanks to all the wonderful staff at Cerwydden Care Centre. She loved you all. At Olga’s request there will be no memorial service.
