July 24, 1950 - August 2, 2018
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Paul Edward Devoe after a year and a half long courageous battle with cancer. He died peacefully in the early morning hours of August 2nd at home with family by his side.

Paul was born in Vancouver on July 24, 1950. He and his wife moved to Mill Bay in 1974 where he continued to live in his words "the most wonderful place in the world".

Paul was predeceased by his parents Frank and Francis Devoe. He is survived by his grieving wife of 45 years Rosemary, his three sons Eric (Kathleen), Ryan (Christina), and Mark (Calli), and his most precious grandson, Liam. He is also survived by his two sisters, Joanne Weller (Wally), Jackie Brayshaw (Jim), niece Dana Tubbising, three nephews, Scott Weller, Chris and Drew Brayshaw, and brothers-in-law, Fernando (Karen) and John (Sandy) as well as many good friends.

Paul was a deeply devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. His family meant the world to him. He spent the past 10 years with his wife finishing off their house, building many rock walls, and landscaping the property.

He loved to garden, especially growing his tomatoes. He went from barely being able to boil water to being an incredible, creative cook and loved nothing more than to gather his family around him and cook great meals.

Paul was a voracious reader and always loved a good debate. He enjoyed travelling and exploring out of the way places with his wife and for the last 8 years spent the winters at their condo in Palm Springs.

When at home until the final two days of his life he and his wife woke up very early, a cup of coffee in hand and watched the glorious sunrises from the deck. He also kept close tabs with his telescope on the boats coming in and out of the bay.

A very special thanks to Dr. Masuda and Dr. Wilhelm for their care and concern to make his last month comfortable. Thank you too to the entire Palliative Care team. You all made it possible for him to remain at home, which had always been his wish.

There will be no service by request.

Paul, your family always felt loved by you. Rest assured you were deeply loved by us. Although we can no longer be together, you have given us so many beautiful memories. You will be with us forever. Love You.
