Raymond George Summers

85 years, formerly of White Rock, lately of Duncan BC passed away at Cowichan District Hospital at 4am on October 16, 2020 after a short illness.
Ray, born in the depression on November 16, 1935 near Edmonton AB, youngest of 4 children to Lou and Ethel Summers; soon migrated to White Rock BC, spending the next 55years working and raising a family.
Ray was involved in mid-century development projects of Kitimat and the Massey Tunnel. Trained as a Draughtsman, migrating to education by the late 50's becoming a principal for the bulk of his career in School District 36 (Surrey) retiring by 1995.
Dad spent many years involved with minor hockey either managing the team or driving his sons to many an early morning practice.
Ray was an avid sport-fisherman always trying his luck on the Nicomekl & little Campbell Rivers and over the past decade finding quiet spots around Princeton/Coalmont BC.
Ray is survived by his wife Patricia (nee McKay), daughter Kerrie (John), grandchildren Kayla, Kendall of Whistler and Brynne Benbow of NZ; son Rod (Theresa), grandchildren Sydney and Ben Summers of Denver, Co. son Doug, granddaughter Ciara Summers of Abbotsford, his surviving sister "Sis" Gwen (Ken) Long, and all his nieces and nephews on both sides of family.
Ray is predeceased by his parents Lou & Ethel, sister Bess (Pat) Bradley & brother Bob (Ollie).
Memorial service will be on hold until further developments.
A special thanks to Barb Bond, dad's long-time companion for all the logistical support she has provided and a massive thanks for the incredible support Aunt Gwen & Uncle Ken have and continue to provide during this trying time.
Dad will be missed, but always remembered.
