It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Regina Janssen-Steenberg of Duncan, BC, at the age of 87 years, on Monday, December 19, 2016 at Wauklehegan Manor in McAdam, NB. Regina will be remembered as a spirited and giving person who loved to laugh and had a strong devotion to her Catholic faith. Her outgoing personality fueled her to accomplish many things such as university courses in Psychology and English Literature and seeing as much of the world as she could. Regina also had a strong interest in the performing arts shown in her years as the Arthur Murray Dance Studios, Shawnigan Lake Players Theatre Group, performing in her Catholic Church choir and the Soroptimist International volunteer group. At home she loved to tend her gardens and cook. After living briefly in Montreal, PQ, she moved to Jasper, AB, where she met her husband Christiaan. Soon after marriage, they moved to Duncan, BC where they owned and operated a bakery for many years. When not working at the bakery that she owned with her husband, they loved to travel. After her husband Christiaan, passed away in Duncan, BC, she moved to Oromocto, NB, to be closer to her daughter, son-in-law and grandson who cared for her for a number of years until it became evident that a higher level of care was required and could only be found in a nursing home. Regina will be sadly missed by her daughter, Rosalee Robinson, son-in-law, Frank Robinson and her grandson, Thomas Robinson. The family would like to thank the staff at Wauklehegan Manor for the outstanding care of Regina during the last few years of her life. There will be no visitation by request. A Mass of intention will be held on January 29, 2017 at 10:00 AM at St. Edward’s Catholic Parish in Duncan, BC. A private funeral service will be held locally. Interment will be in St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery, Oromocto, NB in the spring. For those who wish, donations in Regina’s memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
