November 17, 1945 - February 22, 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Harry Newsom on Monday February 22 2021 at the age of 75.
Rick passed very suddenly at home. He was born on November 17, 1945 in Calgary Alberta. He proudly served his country in the Canadian Armed Forces in Germany from 1965 to 1969.
Rick retired from the Canadian Pacific Railway in 2010. He fulfilled his promise to his wife and brought her home to the island to spend their retirement days.
Rick was the beloved husband to Colette for 50 years, father to sons Shawn and Steven Newsom and daughter Dana McCormick (Darren). He was so proud to be the grandfather to Meara and Owen.
He will also be missed terribly by his sidekick Thaddeaus. They spent their days together walking in the woods and always side by side as he worked around the yard.
