Robert Arnold Gunderson

May 4, 2020

February 10, 1947 - May 4, 2020
With great sadness we announce our brother Bob has passed away after a short battle with cancer. Bob was born in North Battleford SK. He grew up in Honeymoon Bay and attended school in Lake Cowichan until graduation in 1964. He then attended UVic and earned several degrees and awards. Bob was a kind, caring and intelligent person who used his extensive knowledge to help friends and family on many occasions.
Bob has been reunited with his father Arnold (d.1997) and mother Rita (d. 2020). He is survived by three younger siblings, Gary (Diane), Janet (Frank) Harding, Sharon (Gordon) Oates and three generations of nieces and nephews. Also two aunts and numerous cousins in Canada and Norway that he was very fond of.
As a boy, Bob enjoyed sports, he played baseball for many years, was a Boy Scout and earned the Queen's Scout Award. He liked hunting, skiing, golf, hockey (watching and playing) and bike riding.
Bob loved to fly, he got his licence and plane at an early age. He always said "why drive when you can fly". He also loved to travel, having visited 77 countries. He lived in Europe for many years before returning home to care for his mother.
Many more trips were planned, but sadly, in aviation terms, on May 4, Bob had "Flown West".
Thanks to Pastor Terry, Jennifer, Donna, Ken, Sandi, and Tommy . Also the many friends that called or emailed because they could not visit.
A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
