In loving memory ~
It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we say goodbye to Robert "Trav" Redding, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. While we wish we had more time together, he always said he was "living the good life" until it was time to join his "Jeanie Baby", his best friend and love of 70 years. It is bittersweet to have lost both Trav and Jeanie within months of each other, but it brings us peace to know they are reunited and continuing their life-long love story together. They built a life full of love, laughter, and unwavering support and their legacy will be carried on through their 4 daughters and 8 grandchildren.
Trav truly was the kindest, sweetest man that cherished and loved his family dearly. He was always the first to lend a helping hand, no matter how small or big the need was. He had a strong work ethic that showed us we are all capable of doing great things, especially with his guidance. He was the ultimate do-it-yourself-er that could build anything he put his mind to. He saw potential in the simplest items and scraps to re-purpose and build new things. He is well known for his "Redding fixes" knowing that he could make anything work his own way. It was amazing what one man could accomplish with dedication, creativity, pure strength, and unique genius.
He had many interests throughout his life. From the first time he travelled to Barkerville, it became a family favourite, along with fueling his passion for gold panning and creating his own unique gold collecting equipment. He loved to play lotto and focused on "doing his numbers" in hopes to find patterns and winning combinations to spoil the family. He was a Christmas enthusiast, cherishing the magic of the holiday season and Christmas movies. He was known for having the decorated Christmas tree up months past Christmas and could grow an incredible Santa beard each year.
Jeanie and Trav lived on Vancouver Island for most of their adult life, with a short adventure to Fortin's Sawmill. They eventually re-settled on Knudsen Rd where they created their family home for over 55 years. Trav was an extremely hard worker, working as a logger, truck driver and eventually a millwright for over 25 years. After retirement, he and Jeanie embarked on many travels across Canada and US with friends and family. While he was officially retired, he always kept himself busy working on a variety of projects. After many years of hard physical work he eventually learned to sit back and relax, enjoying tv and movies, listening to music, playing the guitar, learning many new things online, and spending quality time with family.
His family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Trav's medical care team for their compassion and support including Sabrina Bridges, NP, of Chemainus Medical Clinic.
Rest in peace. We love you always and forever.
