It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Rona Margaret Blackburn (nee Worrell).
Rona moved from Blackpool, England to Canada in 1976 with her late husband, Geoff Blackburn, and her four children, Jane, Dave, Phil, and Steph, settling in Edmonton, Alberta until 1996. Since then, she has been an active member of the Crofton Community on Vancouver Island. Friends will remember her in her weekly swimming and coffee group, her painting groups, Stitch and Bitch, her daily walks with her dog and companion Sophie, and her volunteer work at the Crofton Community Centre. She was passionate about the theatre, and went often to productions locally, in Vancouver for the annual Christmas Panto, and around the world.
Rona is survived by her children, Jane, Dave (Sue), Phil (Karen), and Steph (Jan), grandchildren Jennifer, Kiefer, Hunter, Bailee, Madison, Emma, and Sydney, and great granddaughters Avalon and Xanthe.
We will remember her fondly for her infectious laugh, her fierce independence, her amazing attitude towards living life to the fullest, and her ability to overcome any difficulties that came her way. She was an inspiration to all who knew her, and will continue as an encouraging reminder to live life well.
