Ronald Dudley Durrance passed peacefully May 1, 2021 at home.
Born July 8, 1943 in Victoria, BC and descended from original settlers who emigrated from the UK to the Durrance Lake/Road area, but for the greater part of his life chose to live in the Cowichan Valley.
He was a well-known painter on the Island. Ron is predeceased by his parents William (Dud) and Isabelle Durrance.
Survived by his wife Margaret, brothers Dave (Petra), Bob and Doug (Judy) and nieces and nephews; his children Rob (Loralea), Susan (Greg) and Dan (Tanya), grandchildren Aaron, Braden, Chantal, Haley, Katie, Nick, Dyllan and Keegan.
His extended family, Shaughn and Kit, grandchildren Lindsay (Mike), Lauren, Mark, Kerri Anne and Lily, great-grandchildren Jett, Rhys and Emerie. Ron and Marg waltzed across Texas, caught the travel bug and enjoyed many great trips and cruises over the years sharing good memories.
Ron did not want at any time a service, celebration or heaven forbid, a tea and his request will be respected. If in passing a Cowichan Cat Rescue tin, if you care to, drop in a few coins in Ron's memory. He was an animal lover.
