May 26, 1934 - August 20, 2018
Born to Molly and Horace Collings, Romey's early years were spent on the family homestead at Shawnigan Lake. As a young teen, she moved with her family to a small farm at Cowichan Station. As an older teen Romey moved to Victoria where she met and married Clynton Pringle and began a family. Soon the Cowichan Valley beckoned and the young family returned to the area and a small hobby farm.
Romey was a woman with a remarkable second act. She had a lifelong interest in gardening, and after raising her family she took up singing and dancing, curling, golf and bridge, to name a few. Her last ten years saw her travel extensively.
Romey was quietly passionate about contributing to her community. She was active in the Shawnigan Cobble Hill Farmers Institute and Agricultural Society which recognized her for many years of volunteer service. She gave her time generously to several other organizations and events over the years.
Romey was predeceased by her sister Sheila, and grandson Devin. She is survived by children Margie (Denise), Peter (Kathy), April, and Holly (Del), grandchildren Jordan (Stephanie), Max and Gillian, great grandchildren Keira and Hudson, her sister Jean, Clynt and Betty.
Unassuming and pragmatic at her core, Romey had the rare capacity to meet life's challenges head-on and fully in the present. Romey passed at her home in Cobble Hill, with her children present. A life very well lived, indeed.
Service to be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, August 30th, 2018 at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, 3295 Cobble Hill Road (at Chapman Road), Cobble Hill BC. In lieu of flowers kindly donate to the BC Cancer Foundation.
