In Loving Memory ~
Ruby Krause passed away peacefully on June 12, 2022, with her children at her side.
Ruby grew up in Royalties, Alberta during the oil boom of the early 40s. The 7th of 8 children of Mary and William Dease, she grew up strong, proud, and independent. In the summer months of her youth, she worked alongside her mother many places, including Banff. After graduating high school, she went on to business college and began working for B/A Oil in Calgary where she met Ted Krause, the man with whom she would spend her life.
Throughout her extraordinary life, Ruby has been many things. Never one to say "no" to a challenge, she has hunted pheasant, ridden motorcycles, raced snowmobiles, and traversed steep mountain trails on horseback. She's been a bookkeeper, an astute business manager, an investor, a Bridge Life Master.
She has baked, sewn, knitted, gardened, golfed, bowled, fished, raised four children, loved... and lost both friends and family. Ruby was a willing volunteer and great philanthropist.
She loved music and she loved to dance. Her travels to numerous countries endowed her family with a sense of adventure. She cultivated many life-long friendships with the remarkable people she met along the way.
Ruby loved life and she loved to laugh. She earned the nickname "Grambo" for her legendary participation in Christmas morning Nerf gun battles. Her sharp mind and sense of humour never left her. She touched many lives, and we are all richer for having known her.
Mourning her loss are her children Kandace (Steve) Krause, Karen Simons, Parker Krause, Russel (Heidi) Krause and her grandchildren Kai and Nikole Simons and Shaina Morin.
Ruby's family would like to extend special thanks to the thoughtful and caring staff at Highgate Seniors Village and Cowichan Hospice House. Thank you all. She lived with dignity.
