Stephen Robert Buckley. One word: COURAGE. Buck always said he lived a good life, even if we don’t think 60 years was long enough. He was loved by his parents, Millie & Charlie who predeceased him. He was tolerated by his older brother, Ken until the age gap lessened when love and respect took over. Steve was: impressed by his oldest daughter Kristin; proud of his only son Tyson (Shauna); and inspired by his “favourite youngest daughter” Kala (Teemu). Those three were his greatest accomplishment. His favourite people will always be his grandchildren, Ryder, Ayla & Onni. His best friend and now wealthy wife, Wendy feels so grateful for the time they had together. An outstanding athlete, if you asked him. Hockey with the Nanaimo Clippers, a proud ‘legend’ of the ‘77 Minto Cup and ‘79 Mann Cup Shamrocks lacrosse champions. A passionate golfer, a keen 3rd baseman, ping pong and badminton with his N. Alberta work-mates and an avid skier; there really is no sport that Steve wouldn’t try and eventually excel at. According to Steve, there are only sports channels on TV; Rangers, Canucks, Giants, BC Lions and the Blue Jays were all favourites. A reluctant member of the ‘Hug and Slug’ trio at the Tally Ho Sports Bar, ‘In the loop’ with his golf buddies, Steve enjoyed spending time with his numerous friends whenever he had the chance. He met many people through his years as a transport operator in Victoria, Duncan and N. Alberta. We will all cherish our fond memories and fun times with Steve. A celebration of his life will be held on January 21st, 2017 from 2-4 at the Tally Ho Sports Bar in Victoria. Because flowers die too and that’s just a reminder, please consider a tribute gift to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada http://www.braintumour.ca/119/tribute-gifts. There, now you have the who, where, what, when and why.
