Sylvia Martha Madeline Fairbairn (nee Cromie)

February 23, 2021

July 2, 1937 - February 23, 2021
Sylvia was born in the seaside village of Ballywalter, County Down, Northern Ireland. She emigrated to Canada with her family in 1954 and lived in London, Ontario. In 1959, she married Michael and moved to Winnipeg where daughters Heather and Megan were born. Her third daughter, Fiona, was born after the family moved to Maple Bay.
It was Sylvia's belief that a happy childhood makes for a happy life and she tried to create this for her beloved daughters. She loved her home overlooking the ocean and the lovely walks in the countryside.
As a family, many camping holidays were enjoyed; later, she and Michael travelled farther afield. One special trip was a tour of the British Isles and Ireland to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.
After 52 years in Maple Bay, when Sylvia was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, the decision was made to move into Evening's Ease Court in Duncan where they met many lovely people.
The family would like to thank the many people whose kindness and helpfulness along the way meant so much to them and to Sylvia.
Sylvia is survived by her husband Michael, daughters Heather (Jack Vanderbasch), Megan (Mark Habazin), Fiona (Bruce Barton) and their families and her sister, Rosemary Robinson.
At Sylvia's request, there will not be a service, but a family get together will be held when convenient.
