March 8, 1978 - February 28, 2025
Tanya passed away quietly in morning surrounded by loved ones after her three-year battle with CANCER.
She was born and raised in Chemainus. She loved camping and fishing with her dad. Being the crab "basher" was one of her fondest memories as a child. She enjoyed the time she spent with her whole family at holiday dinners and camping trips.
After graduation, she worked several different jobs, often more than one at the same day. One of them was at the Horseshoe Pub, where on one Sunday night she met her future husband, who just came in for some wings after a round of golf next door. She was quite smitten with him that night.
They bought their first house just before September 2001 in Crofton and later purchased the Williams family homestead in Deerholme in 2004. Both families have been living in the Cowichan Valley since the late 1800's. With her coming from the Richards of Westholme and Doug from the Williams of Deerholme.
She was passionate about being the supervisor at the help desk for the Provincial Government. She was always giving and wanting to help people. Working up to the final weeks before she passed.
Tanya loved being a mother and was very sad that she wasn't going to be able to see them all graduate.
She wanted to remind women to "get your girls checked".
She was predeceased by her father Tom Jackson - 2020 and Grannie Pat Powell (Fransen) 2011.
Tanya is survived by her husband Doug (Opie) Williams, children Cassandra (Zachary), Jaeden, Adelyn and Vaughn. Mother Gloria Jackson (Fransen), Brother Kurtiss. In-laws Brooke and Linda Williams. Mike (Janet), Stephen, Kim (Chris) and many aunties, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and all those that she has touch over the years.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of the Cowichan District Hospital Chemo Unit and especially Dr. Maggie Watt, whom she considered more than just her family doctor but a friend.
In lieu of flowers, please consider giving to the BC Cancer Foundation. Maybe one day we can cure this horrible disease.
Celebration of Life will be at the Glenora Hall, 3660 Glenora Road, March 29th, 2025 from 2pm - 4pm.
