October 14, 1936 - May 22, 2020
Thomas (Tom) William Clark from Duncan BC passed away peacefully at the age of 83, on May 22 2020.
Tom was born in Victoria BC on Oct. 14 1936 and moved from Shirley BC to Duncan BC at the age of 5, son of the late Stanley and Marge Clark and brother to Barbara Chadwick.
He is survived by his wife Marilyn - a blind date that turned into nearly 59 years of marriage - his son Steven (Elaine), grandson Nathan and bonus grandchildren, Joshua, Micah and Merenya; sister Barbara and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his daughter Lynda and parents Stan and Marge.
Tom loved sports - playing, coaching and watching. In his youth he garnered many trophies for his athleticism in soccer, basketball and softball and both five and ten pin bowling. Tom was also instrumental in helping to start Minor Football with the Cowichan Timbermen in the Cowichan Valley. This was in 1965 and he was one of two trainers that started with the team. In later years he was an avid supporter of the Cowichan Capitals, attending most home games. He continued to golf and lawn bowl into his late 70's.
Tom was a member of Temple Masonic Lodge #33 and a life member of Gizeh Shriners of BC & Yukon. He had a huge heart and quietly supported causes he believed in and providing service where he could including being a member of the Duncan Volunteer Fire Dep't. For twelve years and then an Honorary member and a volunteer driver for the Cancer Society.
Most of Toms working life was spent at the Crofton Mill. He started out in the bleach plant and ended his career in the Lubrication Dep't.
Tom will be missed and fondly remembered for his easy smile, quick wit and genuine care and concern for all who crossed his path.
The family would like to extend our sincerest appreciation to all who have extended their condolences at this time. A very special thank you to Dr. Ann Thompson, Eileen Dirom RN Geriatric Specialty Services and the staff at Deertrail Cottage and the Oyster Harbour long term care facility.
In lieu of flowers please consider giving to the Cowichan District Hospital Foundation, Cowichan Valley Hospice society or the local SPCA. A celebration of Tom's life will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be offered at www.hwwallacecbc.com
