August 13, 1940 - April 20, 2021
Verla passed away at home, peacefully in her sleep, with a loved one by her side. Her strength and courage were admired by both professional and lay folks alike. She battled COPD for years with a contagious, upbeat spirit.
Verla loved to tell tales about her early years in Saskatchewan on the farm, and riding horse back to school. Her family moved to BC when she was 15 years old. Her care for others was what kept her going. She enjoyed being able to flit off to wherever, whenever she chose, going off to visit friends and family whenever the wind blew her that way.
She did some travelling, both nationally and internationally. Fishing all over BC, cabins up north, camping, taking herself to places around the world, South Africa, Cuba and Alaska. Taking photos to remember it all by. A great source of enjoyment came from her photo's of family and friends, displayed with pride for all to see.
Verla is predeceased by Bill Marsh, Bill Grosskleg, Les Ordano and eldest daughter Doreen Ordano. She is survived by sons; Dean Ordano and Roger Grosskleg; daughter; Darlene Bjork, stepsons; Bill and John Marsh, stepdaughters Lisa Marsh and Angela Shepard, 15 grandkids and 6 great grandkids.
She was always a cheerful person who always had a positive regard in spite of her health conditions. She will be fondly remembered by all.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
