Dec 17, 1930 - Mar 12, 2018
Violet Lena Gregson, much loved mother and grandmother, passed away at Cerwydden Care Centre on March 12. Violet lived independently until last year when she developed a number of health issues requiring complex care.

Violet grew up on her family farm in Stump Lake, Saskatchewan with her 3 sisters and 3 brothers. Her family moved to Duncan in 1947 and settled in the Old Hillcrest Payne Road area. Violet loved Duncan immediately and never wanted to live anywhere else. She did not miss Saskatchewan winters.

Violet is survived by one brother Alec (Rosalee), her son Calvin (Carol), daughter Nola Hendrie (Tim), grandchildren Wendy, Geoffrey and Jaime, 2 great grandchildren Brooke and Jessica plus numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, August and Nora, her husband Bob, son Gary, and grandchildren Darren and Andrea.

Violet developed a variety of interests throughout the years. She was a great cook and bread maker. She refinished antique furniture, farmed (cattle, sheep and pigs), learned lots about natural healing, and became quite adept at speaking Spanish.

She and husband, Bob, spent many warm and enjoyable winters in Mexico with their trailer. Violet became a Jehovah's Witness in the 1980s and greatly appreciated the community of friends she met there.

Violet loved to visit with her grandsons, Geoffrey and Jaime, whenever she could and pointed out their photos to everyone she saw. In the fall, she supervised them making "Swedish Bread" so they could learn how to make it themselves.

Violet was a resident at Cerwydden Care Centre since October. Our family appreciates the loving care the staff gave her, and also the diligent care from her doctor there, Stacey McDonald.

Violet will be missed by her family and her many friends. An informal gathering of friends and family will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2018 from 1-3 pm in the Heritage Community Hall behind the First Memorial Chapel at 375 Brae Road in Duncan.

No flowers, please.
