In loving memory ~

Wayne Douglas Grant of Duncan, BC passed away on April 24, 2025. He was born to Clarence and Beatrice Grant in Winnipeg, MB and spent most of his childhood on the family farm in Gladstone, MB with his three older brothers, Dean, Ray, and Ralph, before he moved to Devon, AB.

Wayne married Hazel on June 5, 1959 in Edmonton, AB. He graduated as a professional engineer from the University of Alberta in 1966 and moved to Vancouver Island to begin his career at Crown Zellerbach in Campbell River, BC. His career spanned many years in the pulp and paper industry until his retirement from Catalyst in Crofton, BC in 1994.

After retirement, he enjoyed numerous warm winters in Yuma, AZ with Hazel.

Wayne was a proud member of the Duncan Rotary Club and the Probus Club of the Cowichan Valley. Over the years, he was a Cowichan United Way board member and enjoyed bowling at the Cowichan Lawn Bowling Club.

Wayne is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Hazel; his son, Shawn Grant; his daughter, Stacey Grant-Savela (Kris) of Milwaukee, WI; his grandchildren, Lola and Zeb; and his nieces, nephews, and their families. He was a man of immense wisdom and humor who cherished every moment with his loved ones and friends. Thank you to the exceptionally kind chemo nurses, Dr. Pewarchuk, and Dr. Jansz at CDH.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Rotary Foundation, Box #473, Duncan, BC.
