It is with great sadness and great relief that Wayne’s family announces his brave and courageous passing at home surrounded by brother Rick (Terry), sister Sharon Priest, nieces Krista Wood and Kori McCallum. Suffering has ended and he is home with his Lord and Saviour where he longed to be. He is now whole, restored, rejoicing with loved ones; mother, Betty Hickman/Gowanlock, father Tom, brother Brian, niece Kimberley, wife Andrea Toivonin.
Wayne was born in Swan River, MB, was raised and lived much of his life in Thunder Bay, ON moving to Vancouver Island in the 80’s. He was a man of many talents from flea marketing, to cook extraordinaire (oh those pies and perogies), singing and playing in various bands in Ontario and Vancouver Island. He was the voice of Santa for many years to many children. He was a resident of Duncan, BC working at various restaurants, most recently at the Arbutus Café where he enjoyed many friendships. Survived by his brother Bill (Alice) - Thunder Bay, sister Sharon Priest - Chemainus, brother Rick (Terry) - Ladysmith and daughter Tammy - Nanaimo, Andrea’s children Leah and Kaarlo, many nieces and nephews also grand nieces and grand nephews.
By request there will be no service. By request Wayne will be interred in Thunder Bay.
