Wendy Anne (McGregor) Boothroyd, a long-time resident of Mill Bay was a caring mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She passed peacefully in her home on Monday, October 11th, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Wendy was in her 73rd year and fought to the end in her battle with esophageal cancer.
She leaves behind her daughter Aimee Mudaliar (Sanj) and her son Marc Boothroyd (Ashley). Her beautiful granddaughters, Zariah and Haven Mudaliar, with whom she lived, will greatly miss their beloved "Nana". She is fondly remembered by her stepson Chris Boothroyd, her brother Gerry McGregor (Diana) and niece, Kate McGregor, along with many extended family, cousins and friends.
Born into a Canadian Navy family in Halifax in 1949, Wendy lived in many places during her childhood including Halifax, Dartmouth, Montreal and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania before moving to Victoria in the early 60's. Wendy graduated from Oak Bay High School and went on to study nursing at the Royal Jubilee Hospital before changing career directions and taking on running small businesses. Many know Wendy for her years of service in the Mill Bay Center.
Wendy loved to have sand between her toes and absolutely loved the sound and feel of the Caribbean. She spent many months and years in San Pedro, Belize - her second home. She has a wide circle of friends that are truly like family in Belize and she will be greatly missed by all of them. Her greatest joys there were snorkeling, the beach, visiting with locals and enjoying the odd rum punch.
We will miss Wendy for so many reasons, but especially for her kind and gentle manner and ongoing concern for others.
Wendy chose to be cremated and wished for some of her ashes to be scattered on the reef off San Pedro so her spirit can return home to her beloved Belizean home.
End of life arrangements are being looked after by H. W Wallace Cremation & Burial Centre, and a Celebration of Life for Wendy is planned for Saturday, October 23rd at 2:00 pm at their premises at, 5285 Polkey Road, Duncan.
