Clive Plumpton, beloved husband of Roberta M. Hicks de Plumpton of Westholme, passed away at his residence while his beloved spouse 'Bobbin' gently sang, "Thank you" and "Golden Thread". He was 80 years of age.
Clive will be lovingly remembered by children: Mitchell (Christine) Plumpton, Gary (Consuelo) Plumpton, Donna Edgar, his forever foster son Jim; three grandchildren: Philip Russ, Julian Russ and Sarah Russ (Chris); six great grandchildren: Jason, Callum, Cain, Julian Jr., James, and Kolbi.
Clive will also be sadly missed by his mother Mabel; siblings: Diane, Grant, and Kim as well as by his Hicks in laws - too numerous to mention.
He was predeceased by granddaughter Shelby Plumpton and father Barney Bestwick.
Clive was born in Nanaimo, BC and spent much of his life there. He loved his town. Born into a family of dog lovers, Clive was never without one. Early in his life Clive started a family and a career in construction. He was a builder and he had vision.
He met his wife Bobbin on July 17; 36 years ago. She is forever grateful to have celebrated another beautiful anniversary before his passing. For their first Christmas together, Clive gave Bobbin a globe with a card that said he wanted to "give her the world".
He gave her a beautiful life, fulfilling many of her dreams with one being her family home in Westholme. He made it special for her and came to love it as much as she did. Together they spent hours enjoying the river and many campfires all while being surrounded by his adored dogs.
Clive took very good care of himself after retiring at age 70. Every day he either walked or cycled, and in the summer he swam. His longevity is attributed to his fitness despite the cruel creeping of Alzheimer's. Clive will forever be remembered in the heart of his wife, family and friends.
The family would like to Thank Dr. Manhas, the Home Support team and nurses for their years of devoted care towards Clive as well as to Mo and America from the Rexall Pharmacy. Memorial Donations may be made directly to the Alzheimer Society of BC (202-306 Burnside Road West, Victoria, BC, V8Z 1M1).
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Calvary Baptist Church: 3318 River Road, Chemainus, BC.
