William Lyttle

October 7, 2016

‘John’ passed away unexpectedly from pneumonia, at the age of 60, in the Cowichan District Hospital in Duncan, BC “He is no longer in PAIN, and can now be at peace” - something he had not known much of in his life. Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, to both Catholic & Protestant parents - Suzanna & Bob Lyttle. The family immigrated to Ontario, Canada before the age of 10, and then to Campbell River, BC, when he was in his early to mid teens. His best friends in CR were Roger Taylor & Dean Benton - and the 3 of them “raised hell” during those years together. The 3 of them have loosely kept in touch over the years. While in CR he was an accomplished Fishing Guide throughout high school until moving to Victoria. It was in Campbell River that John became a father to Teryl Marie & Gavin - although he had not seen them since they were little (due to his stubborn Irish self) - he did often talk about them to his partner, Moe Vesey. Over John’s eventful life he travelled the world & lived in Victoria, Vancouver, Marysvile WA, Duncan & Chemainus. He was always tinkering with mechanical things, working with his hands on motorcycles, cars & boats - excelling in the Auto Body trade. He was always interested in “vintage’ everything - including antique furniture, buildings etc. He is predeceased by his father, Robert Lyttle, his mother Suzanna Wagstaff, & his daughter Terly Marie. He is survived by his partner of 15 years, Moe Vesey - Chemainus, his son Gavin Lyttle - Alberta, his son Andrew (Lyttle or Meyers?) - Marysville, WA, 1/2 brother Sean Lyttle - Florida, USA & step brother, Quinton James - Victoria, BC. He will be especially missed by his long time & close friends, Kevin & Linda Gelaude, who were with us when John’s mom passed - also on October 7, and with Moe, when John passed. A ‘Celebration of Life’ will be held for John on Saturday, October 22, 2 - 5pm at the Chemainus RC Legion on Chemainus Rd. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Cowichan Neighbourhood House in Chemainus, which John was an active member. If anyone would like to email Moe - maureenvvesey@gmail.com
