May 9, 1940 - May 7, 2018
One of Lake Cowichan's brightest lights was extinguished on May 7th, 2018, suddenly after a brief illness, with family by her side.

Wilma is survived by her husband and best friend George of 59 years. Her children Debra (Glen), Michele (Brian), Mark and Blake; grandchildren Jessica, Chelsie, Trista, Jay, Brayden, Evan, Megan and Shayna; great grandchildren Weston, Jaxon and Jesse; sister-in-law Edith; nephew Micheal; niece Melanie; along with family members and all her many friends.

Wilma was born in Calgary, moved to Victoria and then in 1964, George, Wilma, Debra, Michele and Mark moved to Lake Cowichan. She stayed home to raise her children, then became a Trustee and Chairman of School District #79 for 29 years. She was a member of Branch #210 Legion for 31 years, president for 20 years and a life member for 10 years.

Wilma devoted her life to her kids and community. She volunteered her time to minor hockey, baseball, guides, Tops, politics and social issues. She loved camping and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends around the campfire. Her passions were fishing, reading, sewing and baking. She was the strength of our family. Her family and friends will sadly miss her.

The family would like to thank Dr. P. Kerswell and staff at the Cowichan District Hospital for taking care of Wilma.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, June 3, 2018 at 1:00 pm at the Lake Cowichan Centennial Hall.
