June 23, 1935 - November 23, 2021
On Tuesday, November 23, 2021, our loving mother, wife, and grandmother, Yvonne Cochrane (nee Crouch), was taken from us after a long and courageous battle with multiple myeloma.
Mom was born to Lucille and Drummond Crouch on June 23, 1935, in Maidstone, Saskatchewan. The family moved to North Regina where Mom grew up and attended school. After graduating from Scott Collegiate, she studied nursing and worked for years as a registered nurse. She loved her career! Caregiving was part of her nature and the desire to help others never left her. Despite her own challenges, she was always there when someone needed help and continued to volunteer with the Cancer Society, her support group and the church thrift shop until late into her life.
Despite the demands of work, raising four children, and being a loving partner to her husband, Mom found the time to develop different interests. She loved to camp with the family, golf, garden, work, volunteer, and socialize with her Beta sorority sisters.
Mom is survived by her husband of 64 years, Dennis, her sister Rhoda (Gerry), sons Michael (Joan), Geoffrey, and Kelly (Su Mei), daughter Tracey (Ian), two grandchildren, Jared and Kelsey (Evan), and in-laws Ralph Mellanby and Katie Crouch. She is predeceased by her parents, brothers Rodney and David, and sister Patsy Ann.
Mom's passing will leave a large hole, but while she is gone, she will continue to live through the indelible mark she has left on all our lives.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Cowichan District Hospital, and in particular Dr. Pewarchuk and Dr. Masuda for their many years of care. We would also like to thank the staff at the Cowichan Hospice House and ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to this wonderful and incredibly important facility.
Service to be held: Duncan United Church 246 Ingram Street Wednesday, December 1, 1 PM Refreshments to follow.
