9-1-1 provides efficient, thoughful service

The beginning of the quite magnificent fireworks downtown Duncan Friday night reminded of the night before Halloween.

I have not lived in a city that allows firecrackers, or where they were used at Halloween. So when I heard two very loud reports that sounded like guns that day, I decided I should call 9-1-1. There had been an attempted robbery just the week before where a gun was actually fired just a block from my place.

I was very, very impressed with the whole 9-1-1 response. My call was answered somewhere else in B.C., routed directly to the police department here in North Cowichan. Constable Spidel listened to my concern and went immediately to check it out. I know this last because he actually called me back to clarify that it definitely had just been firecrackers. I want to thank our police departments, our 9-1-1 system, and Constable Spidel for such efficient and thoughtful service.
