Adulthood is better; central vac great too

What a great column by Sarah about vacuums and adults. A couple of observations:

First, “Being a proper adult sucks”. Maybe for some, but it beats the hell out of being an improper teenager! Take your pick, a shy and under-confident teenager or a mature and confident adult who is capable of talking to anyone. I remember bing in high school in Vancouver surrounded by gorgeous females and being too shy to talk to them! The senior has many benefits, such as his or her children are grown up and no longer need support; hopefully a place to live that is paid for or a rent that he can afford; not having to compete in the workplace; not shy anymore, you can talk to ladies on the street and tell them a little riddle such as “What did your bra just say to my hat? It said, you go on a head, I’m going to give these two a lift!” The only lady that did not like that riddle worked in a law office and lawyers are not renowned for their sense of humour. One lawyer told that there is no money in having a sense of humour, but I think it is an admirable trait.

I agree with Sarah’s thoughts about central vacuums. I was addicted to this machine for 40 years and it was difficult to quit, but I got over it when I moved into a one bedroom condo where it was not possible to install one. Luckily, I met a German girl by the name of Miele who is a cheap substitute but does the job. Vacuuming and housecleaning are admirable professions, just think back 100 years when we did not even know what a vacuum cleaner was.

Keep up the good housework!

P.S. Mother was wrong about the oven! You do not need to roast a turkey, and they would rather you did not.
