America has gone rogue under Trump

Not even a week into the new year, Donald Trump has shown again why he is unfit to be president. Assassinating that Iranian general, Soleimani, was gob smacking in its short-sighted stupidity.

That it has come out that it was the U.S. military who added that option as possible retaliation for the attack on the embassy in Iraq, to make the other options seem more tolerable and not expecting Trump to use it will go down in history was astonishingly naïve. That was like putting a bucket of KFC on the list and expecting him not to go for it.

Few in the West are going to lament the death of Soleimani, but that is how the White House and the sycophants working for Trump are trying to tar and feather those saner people with who have criticized the assassination. The ramifications of this blunder are spreading far beyond the Middle East, including how this is just one more indication that Trump cannot be trusted by any of the traditional allies of the U.S. America has gone rogue under this president.

American foreign policy in the Middle East, especially regarding Iraq and Iran has been a disaster since George Bush invented faked intelligence reports that Sadam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction: he did not.

After a trillion dollars and over 6,000 deaths of service personnel in the U.S. military alone, not to mention at least 250,000 Iraq civilians, President Trump has made all that sacrifice pointless, not that America ever should have gone into Iraq in the first place. Even if the vote in the Iraq parliament was non binding, the message it sent that all foreign forces must get out, cannot be underestimated in how it will only grow the regional power of Iran in the area.

And for what, to increase his re-election chances? To get people to stop talking about impeachment when after this blunder they should be screaming even louder to remove him from the Oval Office, either in handcuffs or a straight jacket? Does the White House really think that if Trump starts a war that he can’t be impeached?

Apparently, this is what Trump and his minions believe. And as I’m certainly not going to lose money underestimating the intelligence of the average Trump voter, this ploy might work. But at what cost to the world?

It was one Serbian nationalist, assassinating an Archduke and his wife that touched off WWI. One mad man in the White House, assassinating one general, may be about to repeat history.
