Cannabis banned because it threatened cotton

Pot facts: cannabis was banned in the USA in 1937, not because of the drug content but because it was competing with cotton. Recorded use goes back over 10 thousand years. In 1937 smoking the buds was no more, probably less, of a health hazard than tobacco and much less addictive.

Just talked to a friend I’ve known for years who smoked pot and tobacco and used alcohol for years. Then a doctor’s prescription for serious injury got him hooked on ocycontin and getting off that almost killed him. He just quit alcohol and pot with no problem and no withdrawal effects. He still smokes tobacco and has not been able to kick that habit. Tobacco and alcohol is, and will be, the biggest health hazard and most addictive for years to come.

Just because something is against the law does not make it wrong.
