Citizen needs new letters policy
Re: “One Cowichan like the NRA”, (Citizen, Aug. 28).
The Citizen needs a new policy on which letters to publish. In this age of Trump, smearing those you disagree with rather than debating the issues has become more common, but that doesn’t mean our community newspaper needs to facilitate that direction.
And, while we’re at it, the Los Angeles Times has a letters policy that it doesn’t give a platform to climate deniers, just as most newspapers wouldn’t give space to those claiming the Earth is flat. Given the climate crisis now drying up our rivers and causing chaos around the world, the Citizen would do well to follow that example too.
