CVRD should get Dashboard

Do you know how your local CVRD director voted on various issues? Do you know your director’s attendance at meetings? If your director is not at the meeting, who is representing you?

Dashboard is the answer, as it allows residents to see each politician’s attendance and voting record. Vancouver and Victoria are using Dashboard. Currently, CVRD residents must comb through pages of meeting minutes or scroll through past video meetings. Be aware that if both your area director or alternate director are absent, you are not being represented. View links below to see what information could/should be available to Cowichan residents. We need to push for transparency.

In support of letters by Bill Dumont, John Walker, Simone Black, Joe Sawchuk and Jack Holliston, I too agree that the proposed salary increase is too large at one point in time. CVRD directors have a variety of duties but there is also a disparity in how many residents are in the director’s jurisdiction. Perhaps at least one component of salary is based on how many residents are in each of the nine areas? Granted, they all attend the same meetings.

The CVRD board should discuss not only the transparency of their meetings, but also initiate Dashboard or a similar tool.

As a founding member and director of Cobble Hill Association of Taxpayers (CHAT), I am well-aware and concerned about the CVRD budget yearly increases.

Perhaps an email to your CVRD director would help.
