Don’t paint all parents with the same brush

Re: Joe Sawchuk: Subsidized childcare

Although, your ignorant article may be true for some, its not for all. How about not painting us all with the same stroke of the brush?

My husband and I have no “luxuries” like boats, RV’s, new vehicles, cable, cell phones, and we go out maybe once a month to a family resturant, etc.

Our daycare costs are more than half our mortgage payment on our tiny 1500 sq/foot home, and that isn’t even counting the costs of the fresh fruits and veggies we need to supply her with every week because they won’t take anything else.

We both work full time jobs and are law-abiding, tax paying citizens. We shop wisely, we do our best to budget but including the costs of rising food prices, gas, car insurance(so we’re able to get back and fourth from our jobs), home insurance and health insurance(because we weren’t able to get a mortgage without this), property taxes, hydro, neccesities, etc, sometimes we can’t even make it paycheck to paycheck. There’s not a chance that even if we had the best budget in place, we wouldn’t survive on a one income family when prices are sky high for everything. If you notice the date on your calendar, its 2017, not 1950.

Please stop generalizing every family with children as i personally know quite a few families that are full time workers and are struggling with daycare costs and everything thats associated with it. A stuck up nose is not a good look for anyone.
