They will come from all over Victoria, Nanaimo, Vancouver…to see the new SIS (safe injection site) at 5878 York St. Good luck with contact tracing.

As Cowichan gets a yearly health care grant of $6.5 million, who benefits? ls it the homeless or health care professionals? Dope or housing? Do the homeless still remain homeless after they visit the huge safe injection site? Could this large grant of $6.5 million be used towards low-income housing and health and support services for the local homeless instead of an SlS?

“We have to ensure that emergency housing with wraparound services are available. lnvestment is needed urgently to deal with this issue, and communities must be involved in the decisions that are made…You can’t have stability in your lives when you don’t know where you are sleeping each night,” said Sonia Fursteneau.
