Influx of seniors creates employment for area
I believe your editorial cartoonist is ill-informed and misguided with her cartoon of Nov. 29.
Seniors that relocate to southern coastal British Columbia purchase and (in many instances) renovate their residences, purchase numerous services, buy groceries and staples locally as well as contribute to the well-being of their communities.
Employment is created with the influx of seniors from other jurisdictions.
Many seniors will move to assisted living residences that are not subsidized by various levels of government, thus continuing to create employment opportunities for locals.
Seniors continue to pay taxes to Canada and the province (even after death).
Without seniors relocation to this area, the unemployment rate would increase substantially.
