39 Days of July magical

Every day of the 39 Days of July Festival was a magically musical and community building triumph, but the last day was even more memorable than usual!

The day started off with almost five hours of Shakespeare in the park — who but John Falkner and Alex Gallacher would dare to do that and produce such a fabulous time for all spectators? I had never seen the rarely performed Two Gentlemen of Verona before, and was amazed to discover how hilarious it was. The word play had the audience hooting with laughter! Of course, a lot of that was due to the comedic talents of skilled actors like Bill Levity AND the dog! Those of you who didn't have the pleasure of seeing the acting debut of the most talented and charming dog on Vancouver Island, you need to scoot to the upcoming performances at the Gem O' the Isle farm, pronto!

And talking of gems of the isle, that accurately describes the 39 Days organizer and mastermind, Longevity John Falkner.

One of the closing bands of the day, Tropic Mayhem, had dozens of people up, dancing their bottoms off. I looked around as I was dancing, admiring the bopping, clapping and cheering crowd, and I thought, "Yep, thanks to John and his right hand man, Ted Cadillac, Duncan IS a rather fun place to be." SO grateful!
