39 Days of July puts Duncan on the map

On behalf of the thousands of lucky music lovers who have enjoyed the fabulous music at the 39 Days of July, I want to give a massive shoutout to its tireless artistic director, Longevity John Falkner and his sound magician, Ted Cadillac, supported by Festival President Jeff Downie.

This amazing festival really puts Duncan on the map. It has the longest duration of any music festival in the world — probably of any type of festival anywhere. Six weeks of music from at least noon to 8 p.m. Often, if there is an event in the City Square, the music and good times go on until 10.

I can’t conceive of the type of effort that goes into such a massive organizational event — but John can! The festival brings our community together, makes us feel proud of the wonderful place we live in, and shows the whole island (and beyond) that we live, as John always says, in a “Rather fun place to be.”
