City ignores residents on homeless cabins

Recently the City of Duncan voted on placing a homeless camp amongst a residential section of the city. A petition of 600 taxpayers was taken to the council meeting and a large number of taxpayers spoke at the meeting against this proposal. The reason for the opposition is obvious to every citizen of Duncan who would not want this facility in their neighbourhood.

However, against the wishes of the taxpayers, who pay the cost of running the city, the councillors voted in favour of the proposal by a 6-1 margin, consisting of six councillors and the mayor. The only dissenting vote was Councillor Garry Bruce, himself a longtime citizen of the city.

I wish to draw this to the attention of all of the tax paying citizens of Duncan so they know the council does not listen to the paying citizens of Duncan.

I hope people will keep this in mind when the elections come around in November 2022.
