Climate change is set to impose its own restrictions on us all

I hear from many people that they can barely wait for pandemic restriction to be lifted. Why? To buy a boat or motor home, go travelling across the continent or fly off to far off destinations or buy more toys etc.

If these same people think their lifestyle or activities have been significantly restricted by constraints over the COVID pandemic, they are in for a rude awakening as climate change imposed restrictions start to affect us all. Things taken for granted such as starting a family, available food and potable water will be affected, electrical power grid interruptions and fuel shortages will become commonplace. Travel restrictions will be required to keep people away from areas of habitat destruction caused by wildfires, worsening floods, drought and rising sea levels, which will change where and the way we live.

Many people think the government is not doing enough to minimize climate change while at the same time they enlarge or maintain their carbon footprint, wasting resources while accumulating more “stuff”. The government will struggle to minimize climate change effects if individuals don’t do their share by adopting a more selfless lifestyle which includes more than just buying an electric car.
