New firehall should be payed for equally by all

Who decided that the new fire hall would be funded based on per $100,000? At this rate, we will be paying about 1 1/2 times more than the average. A call out for a fire to our residence will be the same as any other yet we will pay more for the same service. This fixation about taxation lacks any imagination. You already know how many residences there are, so do the math. If it is too hard for you, I will gladly help. Number of residences divided into amount required equals what each would pay. Too simple.

We have lived here since 1986. Our working lives are over and now rely on our pensions for income. Then you come along with this idiotic proposal. Where are we to find the monies for each of the requests by you and the CVRD? A higher assessment does not equate to higher income. Go back to the drawing board and treat all of us as equal taxpayers when it comes to funding projects.

So much for us for wanting a newer residence that accommodates our aging bodies. We get stiffed by you and the CVRD, again. For this, I raise my middle finger and send my disgust.
