Should be a bypass around Duncan

At the joint meeting between Duncan and North Cowichan, David Conway, North Cowichan’s director of Engineering suggested that they should relook at a bypass around Duncan for Highway 1.

Two Councillors, Rob Douglas and Tom Duncan, used the argument that they did not want to encourage more vehicular traffic around Duncan.

They were not thinking about who actually creates the traffic that gives Duncan the problem.

It is not Duncan traffic.

It is the traffic moving back and forth between the two major cities on Vancouver Island that Duncan is in the middle of that causes this problem.

The whole north half of Vancouver Island that is trying to get to the capital city of B.C. as well as its two major hospitals all go through Duncan.

Our local government should be petitioning the B.C. government to build us a bypass around Duncan.
