Speed bumps needed

Dear Duncan mayor and councillors:

After witnessing many episodes, and near misses, from scofflaws driving too fast along Duncan Street between Ingram Street (Caprice Theatre corner) and Trunk Road, we strongly urge council to install speed humps, and appropriate warning signage, soonest.

Council and our DBIA are wisely promoting a downtown pedestrian atmosphere. Such affordably gentle speed calming would be money [well] spent, especially fronting our former Phoenix Hotel building and our busy heritage Duncan Garage.

These spots regularly see folks negotiating traffic while crossing the road to and from their parked cars, shopping or using our unique core.

We anticipate council’s prompt action concerning this logical safety precaution — before someone is seriously injured, or worse.

Yours in urban safety,

Peter W. Rusland
