Spend some of surplus on Island transportation

The government should spend part of the $6 billion surplus to improve transportation on the island.

Upgrade the island highway with interchanges and flyovers between Victoria and Nanaimo. There should only be a few to no stoplights on the highway. Also, expand the remainder of the Malahat to four lanes.

The highway running through Duncan and North Cowichan is congested to extreme congestion during the summer months, so this needs to be addressed.

Also, invest to restore island rail.

All the money and focus is for greater Vancouver transportation infrastructre largely due to political purposes, why? Because all the votes are there.

The island population is growing rapidly; let’s stay ahead of the game and immediately invest in transportation. Let’s expediate some projects.

Vancouver Island residents are taken for granted. Throughout history we have consistently voted for NDP candidates to government yet we get nothing in return in regards to transportation infrastructure.
