Letter: Transit should be essential service

I do not have access to transportation
letters

I am writing regarding you article "Cowichan transit strike continues", Wednesday, March 25, 2025.

I am a senior living in Lake Cowichan and I am adversely affected by the transit strike.

I do not have access to transportation and do not qualify for HandyDart services. One of my doctors practices in Duncan. The other is leaving his position at the end of March, and I will be forced to go to CDH or the walk-in clinic at Beverly Corners. What do I do if my problem is not serious enough to warrant an ambulance call?

And how about the people who rely on transit to get to work? I would like to know what the impact is of the lost hours of work on our local economy.

I urge my fellow citizens to raise their voices in protest. Contact your local MLA to let them know how you feel. Transit should be an essential service.
