What are the plans for Pioneer Square?
I was surprised your story about the second recent fire at Pioneer Square did not include a statement from the property owner(s). The captain of the Mill Bay Fire Department stated “if this building ever really did go up, it would be a mess” and that they are “very worried about the place”. Complete reporting might have determined what the plans are for the property and why the derelict structures have not been properly secured. Can the CVRD and fire department not hold the owner(s) to account? Magnets for arson, both the main building and the old nightclub sliding into Shawnigan Creek, should be demolished soon.
