Letter writer the one who need a reality check

Re: “Students should have to pass new course called ‘reality’”, (Citizen, Oct. 2)

So John Walker believes the children who left school to protest the lack of action on climate change should return to the classroom and be tested on their ability to solve the problem without disrupting our current economic and social structures. He refers to this as a “reality check”. In his enlightened educational model, those who fail to attain a passing mark would be legally banned from any kind of protest that demands “the impossible from government”.

As an alternative, I suggest that Mr. Walker return to school for his own “reality check”. Perhaps he would learn something about the future facing our children and the obligation of adults to step up to the plate. Should he fail the course, he would then be legally banned from expressing his opinions in any public forum.
