NDP’s ‘equity policy’ is hypocritical

I am writing this letter in regards to the local NDP riding association and their determination of eligibility to nominees to run for MLA.

I am writing this letter in regards to the local NDP riding association and their determination of eligibility to nominees to run for MLA.

The policy of no able bodied white males allowed to contend for nomination has forced me to take stock of my nearly 40-year unwavering support of this party. What they are saying is if a Tommy Douglas or Stanley Knowles or a Dave Barrett wanted to serve as MLA, tough luck. I fail to see how a policy of exclusion promotes an inclusive ideal.

My brother wanted to vie for the nomination but after a lifetime of volunteering and public service, was deemed ineligible because of gender and skin colour.

Hypocrisy plain and simple. NDP, you have lost my support; exclusion and prejudice have no place in my party of choice. I’m sure I’m not alone.
